Dennis Jay Hall, the indefatigable director of
Champ Quest
Dennis Jay Hall was born November 4, 1956 in Middlebury, Vt. He graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1974. In 1973, Dennis was elected President of the Vergennes Chapter of the Vt. Archeological Society. While serving in that capacity, he was appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Vermont Archeological Society to a special Task Force to write the laws that protect the Archeological sites in Vermont.
A life long love of Vermont history has led him on many adventures, from finding the sites of the earliest Indians to discovering the cellar holes of the first settlers. Disputing long held FACTS, he has uncovered a world of history not yet explored. " I was taught in the first grade, that Indians never lived in Vermont."
For the past twenty years he has searched for the Champ animals that inhabit Lake Champlain, finding them on 19 different occasions. This is just one piece of history that occupies his time. Constant research and exploration will undoubtedly provide new insight into Vermont's historical past.
Hall is currently writing, and has recently published, several books based on Vermont History. The
Champ Quest 2000 Field Guide & Almanac of best search dates is due to be published in March of
2000.
Dennis currently resides in Jericho, and due to a construction accident in Nov. '96, which left him blind in his right eye, spends a great deal of time healing and (when not looking for Champ) works on his most recent conquest, the COMPUTER.
